Renowned as a sought-after authority and advisor by ed-tech firms, professional associations, and higher education institutions, Sandra brings deep expertise in career research, career coaching, talent acquisition, AI-driven solutions, and inclusive career education experiences.

Sandra’s profound impact reflects her mastery of integrated approaches that combine rigorous research, corporate advisement, and cutting-edge technological deployment. Her multifaceted career trajectory has encompassed roles in state government, political consulting, equity research, and primary research at a leading hedge fund—where she was recruited by the Chief Operating Office (COO) to design novel data solutions that streamlined research processes and enhanced strategic decision-making. In higher education career services, Sandra rapidly rose to senior leadership positions, championing signature career development initiatives, overseeing college to career grant major initiatives, charing a Career Development academic department, and guiding professional association committees and boards.

Sandra’s career coaching expertise is widely regarded as one of the most transformative aspects of her leadership in higher education. In alignment with Dr. Rick Acevedo’s vision of AI-driven and technologically advanced career development, Sandra established and directed a NexGen career Innovation Lab, a forward-thinking environment that blends cutting-edge career development platforms, generative AI and other technical skill-building, and immersive VR/AR technologies. Within this dynamic space, job seekers develop NextGen career skills by engaging with advanced digital tools and benefiting from real-time professional support.

Sandra’s faculty experience spans Columbia University, Stony Brook University, and Vaughn College, where she has consistently employed advanced pedagogical scaffolding—a nuanced, methodical approach that infuses career competencies and industry-relevant insights into the bedrock of instructional design. At Hofstra University, Sandra spearheaded the launch of the Center for Career Design & Development’s Canvas site, granting students 24/7 uninterrupted access to expertly crafted career development modules and the opportunity to earn digital credentials. Informed by deep pedagogical research and designed around leading generative AI technologies, this immersive platform positions Hofstra students at the forefront of modern career development, equipping them to excel in an increasingly AI-disrupted workforce in ways unmatched by other institutions. As part of these efforts, Sandra developed and launched the university’s first prompt engineering for career development course, educating students on leveraging generative AI to refine resumes, craft targeted cover letters, and strengthen personal branding through strategic prompt design.

Sandra established her reputation as a leader in experiential learning through pivotal roles at both Columbia University and Vaughn College. At Columbia, she directed the internship courses integral to the university’s experiential learning degree requirement and administered a $160,000 internship grant funding initiative, ensuring equitable disbursement of resources alongside high-impact coaching and experiential learning opportunities for a diverse graduate student population. During her tenure at Vaughn College, she served as Chair of the Career Development, guiding curriculum design for the degree-required “Career Development” course, overseeing the college’s internship program, and spearheading the recruitment, training, and professional growth of faculty. In each context, Sandra integrated robust academic frameworks with real-world application, reflecting her unwavering commitment to cultivating dynamic learning environments that seamlessly bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. This comprehensive background now underpins Sandra’s transformative leadership at Hofstra, where she channels her expertise in experiential learning to advance institution-wide internship initiatives, strengthen academic-employer partnerships, and create innovative pathways for student success.

Sandra is a Certified Professional Coach and Tech Recruitment Certified Professional, and has earned a MIT certificate in Applied Generative AI for Digital Transformation, a Cornell University certificate in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and a NACE Coaching Certification.
